A Blueprint for the Heart of Dumfries
Midsteeple Quarter have reached an exciting stage in their plans and were able to reveal The Blueprint for the Midsteeple Quarter project at a recent launch event on Wednesday 19th February in The Oven, Dumfries. Elected members from Dumfries & Galloway council, representatives from SoSE and DTAS were among the invited stakeholders who came along. The launch was also an opportunity to talk to boards members and the team about the progress and to meet other valued partners.

We need to hold a General Meeting to consider two important resolutions: the appointment of Auditors for 2019-2020 and the collection of members’ share capital. Your attendance would be appreciated.
Recruiting an Administrator for Midsteeple Quarter
We’re looking for a motivated person with great administrative and organisational skills to join our team, making a real difference in Dumfries. Midsteeple Quarter is an exciting community-led town centre regeneration, which has gained national recognition for its pioneering ambition. Significant funding has been secured to build our project team and we currently need the support of a dedicated administrator/co-ordinator.
Boost for community led regeneration
Jamie Hepburn MSP Minister for Business, Fair Work and Skills visited The Oven in Dumfries recently to announce a funding award of £39,500 for the community-led regeneration project for the town centre – Midsteeple Quarter. The funding comes from the Scottish Government’s South of Scotland Economic Partnership (SoSEP) and is part of the package that will support a professional project team to deliver the Midsteeple Quarter vision on behalf of the community board of directors.
Fundraising Boost for The Oven
Midsteeple Quarter are delighted to report that the Holywood Trust has made a commitment of £350,000 towards the costs of the re-development of The Oven.
Recruiting a Manager for Midsteeple Quarter
Midsteeple Quarter in Dumfries is the community-led town centre regeneration plan that you will have heard about if you have an interest or involvement in regeneration, community empowerment, re-thinking high streets, community-led housing or urban land reform in Scotland. This high-profile project has now moved to an exciting new stage with our Phase One development ready to start on site, our masterplan adopted by the Local Authority and resources secured for a project team, for three years. This team will deliver Midsteeple Quarter and we are seeking the person to manage that team and deliver our vision.
Call Out for Artwork
The Oven are inviting artists to deliver artworks to be considered for their Christmas Pop-Up Salon Show — a traditional style show with works hung floor to ceiling with almost every inch of space covered by artworks: paintings, drawings, photos, prints, textiles, films, small sculptures and more.
Alphabet Museum Exhibition
Midsteeple Quarter and Dumfries Historic Buildings Trust are delighted to announce a newly commissioned public artwork for Dumfries’s town centre by nationally renowned artists Michelle de Bruin and Jo Crossland. This commission, part of the Dumfries Stonecarving Project, is on display at the Oven, 135-139 High Street from Monday 4th November through to Sunday 10th November.
Consultation Event
On Thursday 10th October and Saturday 12th October open public consultations session were held at ‘The Oven’ (135-137 High Street, Dumfries). The local community were invited to come along to view plans and research material from the Feasibility Study into the potential development of 113-115 High Street and 117-119 High Street as part of the Midsteeple Quarter project for Dumfries town centre.
Midsteeple Quarter Phase Two Exhibition
The community is invited to an exhibition and information event for the next phase of the Midsteeple Quarter project for the town centre. Midsteeple Quarter are a community led regeneration initiative by people of Dumfries to create a new high street, with a mixture of retail, enterprise, social, leisure and housing.
