Our whole project is based on a proud heritage of people living and loving our High Street. The Midsteeple Quarter (MSQ) project is an ambitious one and we’re delighted to have reached a point in our project where we can bring members of our community on board to work with us.

The Bakers Oven in Queensbury Square has been lit up since January as part of the D-Lux Festival of Light. The building has been turned into a video jukebox, which shows specially made 30-second films which have been made by the community of Dumfries who want to imagine a new future for the High Street

Speech by Tracey Little, Provost of Dumfries and Nithsdale – delivered at the Midsteeple Quarter Launch on Saturday 7th April 2018: Fellow Doonhamers – I am extremely honoured to undertake the role of Provost and so proud to be an ambassador for my home town of Dumfries. 

Saturday 7th April saw the public launch of the Community Benefit Society for the Midsteeple Quarter and the first outing for the Doon Toon Army in a day of fun, music and solidarity in support of a new beginning for Dumfries Town Centre! 

Saturday 7th of April 2018 sees the official launch of our Midsteeple Quarter Community Benefit Society! And we have got some amazing things in store for everyone in the community. 

On Monday 15th January 2018 an amazingly experienced group of people from diverse walks of life assembled at The Stove in Dumfries to get an update on Midsteeple Quarter and bring together their knowledge, advice and offers of help to further the aims of the project.

The project website is now live. We will be updating the site regularly with events, project updates, links and articles.

The Midsteeple Quarter is a major community-led project within Dumfries to take positive action to create a new, beating heart in centre of the town. The initiative re-imagines a strip of empty shop buildings on Dumfries High Street as a community-run mixed develop­ment of live-work/ education/ enterprise/ social spaces.

Are you a small or new business interested in affordable space on Dumfries High Street? As part of the Midsteeple Quarter project, UWS are carrying out a survey exploring the potential to establish a co-working and event or meeting space in the town centre.
