The first purpose-built Dumfries High Street homes in living memory have been completed in Midsteeple Quarter.
The seven apartments are on the site of the former Baker’s Oven at 135-139 High Street. They signal the dawn of a new era of stylish and sustainable living in the town centre.
They are leased at a mid-market rental rate. The development features a variety of home types, suiting people in all manner of circumstances, from key workers and young professionals to those who want to live within easy reach of local services. They are made up of a one-bed live / work studio flat, plus six two-bedroom flats (three of which are fully accessible).

The homes are the first step in the creation of a new neighbourhood in Dumfries town centre - one which is intergenerational, car-free, energy efficient and environmentally aware. They were brought to the rental market with professional support from the vastly-experienced team from South of Scotland Community Housing (SOSCH).
Built to the most modern designs and using innovative building techniques, they set new standards locally. Nothing else like them exists in the region.

The application process explained
The homes are owned by Midsteeple Quarter Community Benefit Society and managed on our behalf Homes For Good.
Formal applications for tenancies are assessed against a set of agreed criteria, shared with applicants. The process of appraising and allocating the tenancies was supported by SOSCH.
For the first tenancies, potential tenants had to register their in living in these new homes to receive the full tenancy application pack.
The team at Midsteeple Quarter believe that Dumfries’ town centre of the future will be a place where people live, work and visit.
The creation of these homes in our first major phase of construction is a critical milestone in starting to realise the Midsteeple Quarter vision.
