Our occupants

The Bust Stop

109 High Street: Julie Langlands creates a unique, personalised experience for every client at The Bust Stop, her independent lingerie, swimwear and nightwear shop. For her, the business is about more than a shop, it’s about creating a community - a place where people not only call in for a purchase, but a chat too.

Flourish

111 High Street: Award-winning gift shop and refillery Flourish was one of the first enterprises to call Midsteeple Quarter its home and had grown into one of Dumfries’ best known independent stores, known for its unique items. Owner Leah Halliday is a fourth-generation shopkeeper and a prominent advocate for our town. She is passionate about finding and sourcing beautiful and thoughtfully-made things to share with customers.

Craft Space UK

111 High Street: Maryna Muzychenko, pictured left, uses her creative talents with a workshop and studio on part of the first floor of 111 High Street, with items including candles, epoxy resin, jewellery and home decor. She also runs workshops to teach others.

Batter & Patter

The Smithy: Batter & Patter is a specialist bakery, making only gluten and dairy-free cakes. 113-115 High Street is the enterprise’s first home. Jane Gordon, one of the bakers behind it, had been using the building as a pop-up store before moving in full-time. Batter & Patter also supports a local marketplace hub, with other small local traders joining them to bring their skills and products to the town centre.

The Vintage Shop

The Printworks: Lynette Illingworth runs a treasure trove of an enterprise in our unique surroundings. Her striking and quirky collectables are each full of character - from artwork and furniture, signage and little pieces of local history from Dumfries and Galloway businesses. The space is accessed from the close next to The Press.

The Print House

The Standard: Operated by The Stove Network, The Print House is a print studio and workshop, rooted in Dumfries’ proud printing heritage. Drawing inspiration from the town’s legacy as one of Scotland’s historic Print Towns, it’s a place to discover the joy, creativity, and impact of Risograph printing. As part of The Stove’s mission to nurture a thriving, inclusive town centre, Print House is a new hub where drawing, writing, publishing, and grassroots journalism meet - amplifying creativity and community voices.

CodeBase

The Standard: We operate our enterprise hot-desking hub on the first floor of The Standard in collaboration with CodeBase and its Scottish Government-supported Techscaler programme to support start-up enterprises. Desks are available to book for half or full-days. Through CodeBase, entrepreneurs can also access multiple programmes, courses and events run through Techscaler.
