Opportunity: Communications Lead

Midsteeple Quarter are looking to instruct an enthusiastic and creative freelance communications lead to support the project team and Board.  We are offering an initial fixed term contract for 6 months and are currently applying for funding for continuation of the role.

You will be joining a highly motivated, experienced and creative team and will be part of one of the most exciting community regeneration projects in Scotland. Check out our website and social media to see the key role communications play for us.

Requirements of the role:

  • Providing the Board of Midsteeple Quarter with public relations and communications support

  • Input to and implement the communications strategy for Midsteeple Quarter, with a view to securing funding for continuation of this role as part of a broader creative community engagement plan.

  • Content creation and management of social media - events marketing, announcements and news across all relevant social media channels

  • Managing the website, blog, events, team bios, page refreshes generally, project posts

  • Press and media coordination (eg writing press releases, responding to media enquiries and coordinating events and visits by film crews etc)

  • Writing and sending out regular updates to Midsteeple Quarter membership

  • Marketing events and activities run by Midsteeple Quarter

  • Production and management of distribution of printed media including overseeing design work and coordinating with venue/manager/project leads on design of printed media

  • Booking/briefing/coordination of photography at events

  • Proposed hours per week (currently 10 hours, but open to negotiation)

  • Your proposed hourly rate for carrying out the work

  • Your approach to carrying out the tasks

  • The personal skills and relevant experience you can bring to the role

  • Midsteeple Quarter works in partnership with a diverse range of groups and organisations, from community groups to government agencies and from arts organisations to land reform specialists. Please outline your approach to, and experience of, working with partners and maintaining a coordinated communication approach.

  • Your current workload and availability on a weekly basis
