Moving message to Ukraine through artwork at The Press

Dumfries is demonstrating its solidarity for those suffering as a result of the war in Ukraine.

With the world uniting in its condemnation of the Russian invasion - triggering a humanitarian crisis - artists Andy Brooke, Alison Fair Bixler and Simon Lidwell have led the creation of an installation of paper angels in the window of MSQ building The Press.

A message accompanying the artwork states: “These angels are placed here to recognise all of the souls caught up in the chaos of war and as a prayer for peace.

“It is a symbol to do something with the frustration we feel.”

People will have an opportunity to make angels which can be added to the display.

For more info about the installation and how you can respond to the ongoing crisis visit the Quartz website -

Midsteeple Quarter is pleased to be able to provide the space to show the support for the people of Ukraine and the families in our community and throughout the world affected by the tragic events unfolding there, but we know for many this is not enough.
