New Members of the Board Appointed!
Wednesday June 27
Following a recent call-out for new members to join the Board of the Midsteeple Quarter, six members of the Dumfries community have been appointed to support our project into its next stages. The Midsteeple Quarter project is based on a proud heritage of people loving and living on Dumfries High Street, and last month we reached an exciting point where representatives of Dumfries’ diverse communities came on board to help make Midsteeple Quarter’s vision a reality.
12 people answered the original call-out for volunteers, with only six places available. Everyone who applied had an interview with three existing Board members. One of the Board members from the panel, Evie Copland commented: ‘We held two days of interviews and what an inspiring experience it was! The enthusiasm and the energy of everyone put themselves forward was incredible!
‘If Doonhamers all feel like this about our town, the future is very bright indeed. We couldn’t offer a seat on the Board to everyone, but there are plenty of other ways that people can contribute to the project and we’re really looking forward to continuing to work with everyone that applied.’
Following an interview with the panel of existing Board members, we are proud to announce our six selected Board members are:
Jordan Chisholm – a recent graduate and independent creative;
Stacy Bradley – a community housing and empowerment specialist (co-opted);
Scott Mackay – an independent town planner;
John Maxwell – a local businessman;
Michael Moore – a youth and community development worker;
Peter Roberts – a policy and arts production expert
Newly appointed Jordan Chisholm said: “I am thrilled to join the Midsteeple Quarter Board. I think it’s very important that the young voices of Dumfries are a part of this project. Let’s make our town something to be proud of again; encouraging us to stay and not move to the city!”
Stacy Bradley commented: “I am delighted to be part of such an exciting and innovative project which has been close to my heart for a long time. Being a Doonhamer, I’ve witnessed the decline of our High Street and I see the Midsteeple Quarter project as a real opportunity to turn that around, while creating a positive, sustainable future for our town.”
Chairman of the Board, John Dowson said: ‘It was no easy decision to select our new members, but we’re pleased that they all share our passion for Dumfries and the values of the project. Welcoming the new people onto the Board has made our team even stronger and I’m looking forward to working with them all in the weeks and months ahead.’
