Share your memories of Dumfries High Street
An appeal has been launched to find photographs which tell the story of Dumfries High Street through the years.
Midsteeple Quarter, the community enterprise working to revive the town centre by bringing buildings back into townsfolks’ ownership, is looking to increase its collection.
They hope that images of the past, which they would hope to exhibit, could help inspire a vibrant future in which more people live, work and spend leisure time in the town centre.
Midsteeple Quarter Executive Director Scott Mackay said: “So many people passing by our buildings share stories with us about what they used to be and how the area’s evolved. We’re fascinated by their stories and would love to see some of those told in photographs.
“We’re sure that there will be families who have great pictures of the High Street which will stir memories of the businesses and people who’ve made Dumfries so special through the years.
“It’s important that, as we look to a future which holds so much potential, we don’t forget our proud past either.”
