Would you like to join the Board of Midsteeple Quarter?

Opportunities are available for volunteers to join the Board of Directors which oversees the work of Midsteeple Quarter.

Our community benefit society is actively looking for potential new Board members who can help us to deliver on our members’ vision to breathe new life into Dumfries town centre through community ownership and action.

In particular, to enhance our blend of skills, we are currently looking for people with expertise in either accountancy, business management, human resource, legal work or estate management. Experiences from those who have also run small businesses could also be helpful to the Board’s work.

You can find out more about becoming a director of Midsteeple Quarter by clicking here.

Each of the directors on our Board brings with them different life and professional experiences so that a diverse range of voices and viewpoints shape the work that’s carried out on behalf of members.

As well as the main Board meetings, our directors are expected to use their skills and / or knowledge as part of one of our working groups, looking at specific strands of work.

Our first major phase of development - the creation of The Standard - has recently completed. Our directors are working with our small staff team to deliver on the vision for success there, while also looking ahead to continue our society’s long-term work to redevelop the other buildings in the community’s ownership.

This is incredibly rewarding work as part of a team and organisation which passionately believes that community ownership is the key to reviving neglected buildings in our town centre and transforming them to help create a fairer, stronger, more sustainable future - creating new homes and enterprise opportunities. Communities nationally are closely watching the progress we are making.

We have an application process, which begins with filling out a short expression of interest form, which is available here.

Background details on our governance can be found here.
