Community Consultation
20th September 2020
We wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who took the time to come along to the consultation event at The Oven on the 14th and 15th August held at The Oven. The local community were invited to come along to view plans and research material from the Feasibility Study into the potential development of 111 High Street and 119-121 High Street as part of the Midsteeple Quarter project for Dumfries town centre.
We were really pleased to see the local community participating safely in the development of this important project for Dumfries especially during these uncertain times. The Consultation Event was well attended in person, over the course of the two days. We also had an overwhelming response to the online poll. An astonishing 6612 votes and 135 ideas were suggested in under 2 weeks beforehand which rose to 7140 during the event.
The community consultation was an important and timely opportunity for the local community to give their opinions and input. After these difficult times and as we build back better, we know that reinventing a new kind of High Street will be a vital part of our community’s recovery and it was super to hear your ideas of how you want these two buildings to be used.
