Colin Smyth highlights MSQ in Parliament

A few weeks ago, MSP Colin Smyth raised the Midsteeple Quarter Project as an excellent example of community led fightback to secure the future of Town Centres.

He commented: “The Scottish Government need to provide funding to help community groups fighting to save our Town Centres, which is why I called for the Midsteeple Quarter to be used as a pilot for Scottish Government investment to make a real difference in Dumfries Town Centre and subsequent Town Centres across South Scotland. I’m pleased the Minister praised the Council’s Town Centre Living Fund. I proposed the fund in the last budget I presented when I was a councillor in Dumfries and Galloway . But we now need the Government to back that fund up with investment in the Midsteeple Quarter project.”
